Mentone Primary School has been approved as being in the ‘Implementation Stage’ of the eSmart Initiative, run by the Alannah and Madeline Foundation. Into 2017 we will be working on reaching ‘Sustaining’ status. We educate our children on the importance of cyber-safety and support our students on the journey to become a responsible digital citizen, and important skill in this technological day and age.

ICT is used in every classroom throughout the school at Mentone Primary. Each class has access to their own computers and also have access to banks of laptops and iPads which teachers can book to use with their grade. A technology lab is located in the main building and is used by children in Prep to Grade Three to support their learning and to learn new skills.

Technology is no longer taught solely as a “stand alone” subject, instead being integrated through the curriculum. Children use technology to enhance their learning, access apps to support a topic being taught as well as publishing programs, such as Word and PowerPoint, to assist them in presenting their learning.

This year children in Grades Three to Six presented their learning in the form of digital portfolios and shared this with their parents and teachers during our three-way conferences.
